The scourge of fire affects most of us and perhaps none so much as those trapped in bed. Most rural fire stations suggest a period of between 30 and 45 minutes between first call and full response. (We advise you checking this within your locality)

This is, considering many crews are part time, a great response – but of course in a real fire 30 -45 minutes would be disastrous.

Most care homes now come equipped with some form of fire evacuation devices within each room. These are designed to drag or carry patients (as circumstances permit) from their beds to safety.

Evacuation Sledge

Our premium evacuation sledge is one of the most popular fire evacuation systems in the UK. It fixes discretely to the bed room wall where it stores it self neatly until either inspection or emergency arises. It consists of two layers of internal foam.

The first is designed to absorb and reduce shock when the sledge is pulled over carpets, ramps and stairs. The patient is placed on the second layer  which provides a  period of pressure relief and comfort.

Safety belts hold the patient in place and a foot pocket  help to hold the patient in place.Evacuation Sledge EVSG

The care team use a durable pulling loop at the foot end to pull the patient through the corridor and a similar loop at head end to help lower patient down stairs.

The base of the fire evacuation sledge is a bearing surface to enable unit to glide over surfaces such as concrete and carpet.

The whole item is stored in a pouch and can hang on the wall. One or two people required.
